Bursting your bubble to grow

So we all have our comfort zones.  Shows we like, a spot on the couch, even shitty relationships (more personal).  A lot of times we rather stay in those spots than venture out to the unknown and grow as a person.  This is more obvious at the gym.  For our sport (bodybuilding) so many people have  away they train and don't want to try something new.  Which is why so many people will bust their ass day in day our and not change..or start to look worse.  So I say sometimes we need to burst that safety bubble and try whats on the other side in order to grow as a person and as an athlete.

failure is an Option

The truth is we all have the choice to choose to fail...to quit..to walk away.  But a real champion will acknowledge this as a choice and choose any other option. The reality is only when we see what failure is can we look through it and do what is needed not to make it an option.  This applies to the gym, the classroom, the office, and everything in life.  For only when we see that failure is an option can we make sure that failure never becomes one.

Feeling dead can make you feel more alive

One of the best feelings in the gym one can have is that questionable feeling is whether you alive or dead.  Finishing that one set where you have pushed your body so hard that when your rack the weights your are not sure if you have actually died or still sitting there.  Sitting there feeling like you cant breath, everything is just loud echo, and your body is numb.  those are the days when your body..your mind changes.  YOu have pushed through that barrier and your workout will never be the same.

The Chicken or the Egg

So as I sit here watching The Dark Knight Rises, i think to myself...Why do we do what we do..as bodybuilders...or really why do I do this.  I love training til i see spots and I cant breath...and yes I feel much better when i eat clean, but in the end of the day why.  Do i do this because I am am active competitive bodybuilder, or do I compete because i already do that.  Its kind of a hard question to ask, but i feel its important. I feel these are the questions we need to ask ourselves to get a better understanding of why we do anything.

a good workout can do wonders

Its amazing who much good a great workout can do for the soul... speaking from personal experience.  Recently my family has gone through some medical hardships..i wont get into details..but everyone is ok.  When i first got the news there was very little i could do.  I went to the hosptial but I didnt really feel like it was me sitting there.  I still had to go to work later that day so before my shift started I went to the gym.  As my blood began to pump and my muscles began to swell i started to feell human again.  Work was good and everything fell into place.  The gym gave me the clearity (meditation) I needed to deal with things.  Again everyone is fine and doing well...but a good workout really can sooth the soul.

Always on the move, but going nowhere fast

Cardio...Most people hate it..I'm one of them.  But its the best way to burn the most amount of calories in a short amount of time.  I find he best way to get over it is to do intervals.  But the best way to get through it is to find something to keep your mind off of it.  I use cardio as my time to be mad..Whatever is bothering me, school, work, family or girls. I figure I'm stuck in one place so why not figure things out that bother me.  I can use it so see the other side of the argument..or if its even worth be upset...what the hell..its not like im going anywhere..fast.
